Youth School Board

Communication is very important in the decision making process. All parties should have some input to make their position known to the decision makers. More transparency in the School Board process is needed so that everyone feels that they’ve been heard. While every stance and every personal opinion cannot be accommodated, it should be an option for input from the public to reach the eyes and ears of the Board members they elect to serve.

I believe that communication with those most directly affected in our schools by school board decisions should have a voice. I want to create and establish a student school board similar to the student city council that now exists in Kennesaw. I believe that students’ voices should be heard on the topics that will ultimately affect their education experience and level of learning in the system. The details are not yet worked out on how to implement such a student organization but I have requested the help of students who want to be heard. I am sure that we can come up with a plan so that their opinions will be considered in the decision making process.
